Plants spread slowly to form dense mats. They also climb via rootlike holdfasts. Like most trailing forms of wintercreeper, 'Harlequin' doesn't flower or fruit.
This adaptable ornamental does well in most soils in partial to full shade. It is prone to leaf scorch in full sun. Use it as a small-scale ground cover beneath trees or in other shady sites.
