Agave lechuguilla is a species of agave that only occurs in the Chihuanhuan desert. The plant flowers once in its life and then it dies. The leaves are thickly erect to stand upright and have long firm sharp stems.

The flowering time is from March till July and the flower colour is yellow and purple, section reddish tinted. The flowers are a source of nutrients for insects, bats and certain bird species.
